2/10/26 Community Chat

February 11, 2026

Recap of the 2/10/26 Community Chat hosted by Burke Mountain

This Chat was very well-attended (20+ people) with 3 current KT board members, several past KT board members, Interim Executive Director Georgia Gould, several landowners, local business owners, representatives of Adaptive trail organizations, KT volunteer groomers, KT trail ambassadors, local community members and part-time locals as well.

KT Board members Finn Maguire and Twiladawn Perry introduced themselves and spoke about why they joined the board and the important role KT plays in the community and our economy.

Twila shared an update on the ED search process- the board has hired a contractor to assist with an open search (more info will be posted here as it becomes available).

Community members and landowners believe that landowner outreach/communication is a critical skill that any potential ED should have.

People were curious what the current staffing model looks like. Georgia shared that an Office Manager position description will be posted soon. Current staff members are:

-Georgia Gould: Interim Executive Director

-Cedelle Sirjane: Operations Manager

-Orion Campbell-Wolk: Trail Manager

-Emmett Hinman: Trail Crew

-Tom Seymour: Trail Crew

There was broad agreement that KT should be pursuing trail connectivity, especially where it will lead to fewer riders on the road (which will be appreciated by locals). Georgia shared some details about upcoming trail projects like the connection between Sugarhouse Run and the Burklyn Trail that will allow riders to completely avoid riding on East Darling Hill Rd.

Several attendees asked if there was a Flower Brook trail replacement in the works- Georgia said she is actively pursuing options and speaking with interested landowners.

Lots of attendees shared their appreciation for the quality of the grooming on both the nordic and fat bike trails. 2 volunteer groomers were present and received a round of applause for their hard work!

Several attendees shared that in their friend circles there was excitement about KT and its renewed focus on trails.

Someone asked about the E-bike policy (2025 was the first year class 1 E-bikes were allowed for all users) and how it has been received by the trail users and local community. Georgia shared that all feedback has been positive and there has been much appreciation for the increased accessibility. No negative incidents have been reported.

A long-time trail user from New Jersey shared his appreciation for KT, Trail Crew, and the broader community. He has been involved with organizing NJ NICA (High School MTB) camps at KT for years and spoke very eloquently about the lasting, positive impact that the trails have had on his participants.

The next KT Community Chat will be March 10th at 5:30pm at the Burke Mountain Club.
