What is the Race Back to School?


The Race Back to School is an annual challenge that encourages runners and bikers of all ages and ability levels to come out for a day of friendly competition!


All event and registration proceeds will be donated to the H.O.P.E (Helping Other People Every day) organization. H.O.P.E. is an important asset to our community, and provides basic services to people in need.  Their backpack program provides school age children with backpacks full of food for the weekends, since many families rely heavily on school lunches.

Points

  • The goal is to achieve the most points!
  • Points are awarded for completing designated loops.
  • Points are ALSO awarded for participation at extra credit Fun Stations which range from physical fitness challenges to brain teasers.

We need some creative individuals or businesses to set up and facilitate Fun Stations!


What are Fun Stations?


Fun stations are opportunities for racers (in certain categories) to score extra points in addition to laps on designated loops. They can range from physical fitness challenges to brain teasers.


Does the challenge have to be related to running and/or biking?


Not at all! Fun Stations in the past have included yoga, soccer croquet, apple printing, tree identification, and more!


Can I advertise my business at my station?


Absolutely! Hosting a fun station is a great opportunity to connect with youth in the community. You are welcome to bring a banner or branded swag as part of your Fun Station.

Schedule of events (subject to change)

 7:30am-8:45am  → Registration & check in

9am - 11am → Race Time!

11am - 1pm → Lunch - available for purchase onsite at the Handlebar Biergarten

Prize Categories

  • Individual
    • Kid (ages 5 - 9): Prizes will be given to first, second and third place finishers in both the bike and run categories
    • Teen (ages 10 - 15): Prizes will be given to first, second and third place finishers in both the bike and run categories
    • Adult (16+): Prizes will be given to first, second and third place finishers in both the bike and run categories.  **Adults may NOT use fun stations for extra points**
  • Team

    Mixed Team


    This category is designed for families and friends to engage in a fun and active day out on the trails! Prizes will be given to first, second and third place teams.

    • Mixed teams will compete for the highest AVERAGE score of all members
    • Mixed teams MUST consist of NO LESS than 4 and NO MORE than 6 people.
    • Mixed teams must contain ONE runner and ONE biker.

    Looper Team 


    This category is designed for participants who are looking to challenge themselves physically and engage in a slightly more competitive environment. Prizes will be given to first, second and third place teams.

    • Looper teams will compete for the highest COMBINED score of all members.
    • Looper teams May NOT use fun stations to supplement points. 
    • Looper teams may consist of NO MORE than 5 people.
    • Looper team participants MUST be AT LEAST 10 years old as of January 1, 2021.
