Temporary Closure Until Conditions Improve
March 13, 2020
Due to icy conditions, trails are temporarily closed.
It seems as though spring insists on making an early appearance this year and over the last week or more the trails have certainly taken it pretty hard. We had been able to lightly groom the Nordic trails for the past week or so but after Tuesday nights rain, the trails have gone from marginal conditions to down right dangerous. While there is some snow cover, a vast majority of the trails are loaded with ice and for the safety of everyone we are opting to announce that the trails will be closed until further notice after a thorough inspection of the current conditions. With a forecast of up to .5" of rain, high winds, mild temps today and the long range forecast also calling for warm temps through next week there is little chance of the conditions improving. Unless there is a major change in future forecasts and we have an outlook of substantial snow, we will be closing the trails for winter operations until further notice. There are also numerous areas where it's down to bare ground, so as the trails thaw we also run the risk of trail damage and wish to protect the natural resources along with keeping the safety of our users in mind.
